TRAIL ACCOMMODATION

Candlewood Camp

Candlewood Camp is uniquely positioned to offer stunning, unobstructed views of the Uitkomst Waterfall, also known as the Legendary Bride’s Leap Fall. At 85 meters, it is the second tallest waterfall in Mpumalanga, and Candlewood Camp is the only camp in the area with a direct view of this spectacular natural wonder. The camp is perfectly situated to capture the waterfall in all its glory, providing guests with breathtaking scenery right from their doorstep. For those who wish to experience the waterfall up close, a short 30-minute hike leads to the base of this majestic spectacle, where the true scale and beauty of the falls can be appreciated. And if you’re lucky enough to be there at sunset, you’ll be treated to an epic display as the setting sun casts golden hues across the cascading water.

Candlewood Camp is designed to accommodate up to 20 guests in two spacious dormitories, each capable of sleeping 10 people. The dormitories are simple yet comfortable, providing a cozy retreat after a day of adventure. Warm showers are available, thanks to the efficient donkey geyser system that heats water using a wood-burning stove—a touch that adds to the rustic charm of the camp.

The communal kitchen is well-equipped with a two-plate gas hob and all the basics you need for meal preparation, including cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. Whether you prefer cooking indoors or enjoying a traditional South African braai, Candlewood Camp caters to both, offering indoor and outdoor braai areas complete with grids.

The camp runs on solar power, providing eco-friendly lighting and USB charging points for phones and tablets, ensuring you can stay connected even in this remote location. However, to maintain the camp’s serene atmosphere and minimize its environmental footprint, there are no charging facilities for cameras or other electronic devices. Candlewood Camp is all about immersing yourself in nature, disconnecting from the outside world, and reconnecting with the great outdoors.
